TONIGHT: CITY OF CARMEL TO HOST SCREENING OF AWARD-WINNING ADOPTION FILM, I LIVED ON PARKER AVENUE
CARMEL, IND.— The law firm, Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C., today announced their partnership with the City of Carmel, Indiana to host a one-time screening of the award-winning short documentary film, I Lived on Parker Avenue. The event will be held at The Studio Theater on March 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Produced by Joie de Vivre Media, I Lived on Parker Avenue is about a mother’s agony in choosing what’s best, the joy of creating a family, and a search to embrace the unknown.
At the time of filming, David was a college student raised in Louisiana who finally decides he is ready to meet his birth parents. As he boards a train headed to Indiana, David fears the reunion might hinder the life he cherishes with his adopted family down South—something most adopted children fear when meeting their birth parents.
The film’s trailer can be viewed here.
The city of Carmel, Indiana is a progressive advocate for adoption—they even offer employees a $10,000 bonus to aide in their adoption journey. The city also hosts the headquarters of Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C., the firm who handled the adoption documented in I Lived on Parker Avenue twenty-four years ago.
The doors to the premiere will open at 6 p.m., followed by a 30-minute reception period. At 6:30 p.m., moviegoers will be welcomed into the theatre for a short introduction by Steve Kirsh, Mayor Jim Brainard and the producers of the film. The movie will begin at 7pm and be followed up by a Q&A with the star, David Scotton, and other guests.
"Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C. has assisted in thousands of adoptions over the last 35+ years of service. Throughout that time, we have been inspired by the amazing stories of courage shown by all parties involved,” said Steve Kirsh, partner at Kirsh & Kirsh who served as Chief Counsel in David’s adoption case.
“The story of David Scotton is an incredible account of reconnection and redemption, and we are proud to have played the small part that we did in his journey.” said Mr. Kirsh
