TASTE OF SOLAR
Carmel Green Initiative Celebrates 10 year Anniversary

CARMEL, IN – Carmel Green Initiative is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with a Taste of Solar.  The Taste of Solar will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 3 to 5 p.m. and features a tour of three east-side Carmel homes powered by rooftop solar. The homes were solarized last year as part of the 2017 Solarize Hamilton County campaign.  Attendees will learn the “ins & outs” of solar and enjoy appetizers, sandwiches, and dessert.  Professional solar installers will give a short presentation at each home at 3:15, 3:45 and 4:15 p.m.

Solar is rapidly increasing worldwide as the cost of solar comes down.  In Indiana, the passage of SB309 last year started the phase out of net metering, a key financial component common in many states.  This spurred the growth of solar investments as homeowners, schools, municipalities, churches and businesses moved to take advantage of the 30-year grandfathering provision. Net metering, along with 30% federal tax credit and reduced costs for solar panels have made solar investments more affordable.  The Taste of Solar also kicks-off the 2018 Solarize Hamilton County campaign to help residents learn about solar technology as well as the financial ramifications of SB309.

The tour is free and sponsored by Carmel Green Initiative.  Visit www.carmelgreen.org for locations and to RSVP so homeowners know how many people to expect.
