IU Health North Hospital Second Saturday Gallery Walk on October 13th

Carmel, IN – Join us on Saturday as Master Carver Lee Saberson returns to the IU Health North Hospital Second Saturday Gallery Walk. Watch Lee carve up pumpkins into some of your favorite characters near the leasing office at Old Town on the Monon Apartments.

Dine at one of your favorite local eateries then stroll through the beautiful new exhibits at nine of our galleries. Begin your evening by picking up a Scavenger Hunt Clue Sheet at All Things Carmel for your chance to win great prizes. The Gallery Walk takes place from 5 – 9 p.m.

Special gallery exhibits will be featured throughout the Gallery Walk including:

  • Imagine a sloth doffing a fishing hat, an ostrich wearing a vintage hanky as a scarf or a giraffe draped in jewels. Those whimsical paper clay sculptures made of paper clay do exactly what artist Wendy Simon intends her pieces to do: They bring a smile to anyone who sees them. As she says, there’s a sprinkle of cartoon in each of them. Watch the Frankfort based artist at work during the Gallery Walk at Indiana Artisan. (111 W. Main St., #120)
  • Magdalena Gallery of Art is featuring a group of emerging artists who work together under the name of M&K. They came together by working in the gallery together over the last four years and their work focuses on large scale abstract. Gallery owner Magdalena Hoyos-Segovia has been very impressed with their work and creativity and is proud to be able to offer their pieces at prices that correspond for an emerging artist. (27 E. Main St.)
  • Art on Main Gallery and Gifts is exhibiting a show titled Partners in Art: Fab 5 featuring five artists with five varying styles including mosaic art, fine art, photography, oil and acrylic works throughout the month of October. (111 W. Main St., #140)
  • In October, the Carmel Arts Council Children’s Art Gallery will feature student art from Forest Dale Elementary. The exhibition entitled, An African Art Adventure, will showcase the many new things the Forest Dale students discovered about Arica; the artworks, the animals and cultural traditions. Each grade level focused on a particular tradition or animal from Africa. The CAC’s Gallery Annex is featuring artwork created by art students from Carmel, Clay and Creekside Middle Schools and Carmel High School. The CAC’s Community Art Exhibit will showcase student art from Carmel’s Sister City Kawachinagano, Japan.  This interesting exhibit features “scrolls” which were created by Kawachinagano art students after they read a letter sent to them by a “Ninja”.  The scrolls show how each art student interpreted the letter. (40 W. Main St.)
  • Abstract Impressions features the work of Matt Murdle and Wendy Franklin of Hoosier Salon. They will host an opening reception during the Gallery Walk. (22 N. Range Line Rd.)
  • CCA Gallery is featuring Mitra Deldar and Jim Dupler during the month of October. There are a variety of new, beautiful artworks and gifts for fall giving. (111 W. Main St., #135)
  • Soori Gallery features paintings, bronze and acrylic sculptured works by leading American and international artists. Featured sculptors include Michael Wilkinson, Frederick Hart, Jerry Joslin and more. (33 E. Main St.)

Activities taking place during the Gallery Walk include:

  • Master Carver Lee Saberson will be carving pumpkins near the leasing office at Old Town on the Monon Apartments. (111 W. Main St., #125)
  • Free caricatures and face painting by Custom Eyes Designs (near Magdalena Gallery of Arts, 27 E. Main St.)
  • Free musical entertainment along Main Street by Rose Inman, Kassey King and Samantha Dietrich.
  • Be a part of the Scavenger Hunt that will lead you to find select pieces of art or items of interest in each of the participating galleries and businesses. Begin the hunt at All Things Carmel (110 W. Main St., #104). Your completed Scavenger Hunt clue sheet will enter you for a chance to win one of several great prizes sponsored by Carmel Health and Living during the Gallery Walk, including:
  • 2 Tickets to The Addams Family presented by Carmel Apprentice Theatre ($36 value)
