Step 1:

The Indiana Firearms Permit application is only available online.

In order to complete the online application, you must provide the State a valid email address. Please make sure to record your application number, you will need this to check the status of your application.

Step 2:

After you submit your application online, you will need to schedule an appointment with IdentoGO to take fingerprints. IdentoGO will provide fingerprinting to applicants using Indiana’s Electronic Fingerprinting Network. The State requires ALL fingerprints to be submitted electronically.

Step 3:

Approximately 10 days after you complete your fingerprints, you will need to go to the Carmel Police Department.

Please bring with you:

• Your driver’s license or photo ID this must show your current Carmel address. (Used to verify jurisdiction)
• Your receipt from your fingerprint appointment

The Carmel Police Department lobby hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
