The City of Carmel requires Fence Permits for all new and replacement fences within the City Limits.
As a general rule, any fence repair affecting over 50% of an existing fence will also require a permit.

To apply for a fence permit, please complete the following steps:

1. On a site survey showing the property lines and easements, draw the location of the proposed fence. If you don’t have a site survey, you can submit a Request For Information (RFI) to see if the City has these records.
2. Click the Online Permitting button below and complete a fence application. You will need to upload the Site Survey and Waiver of Liability to the Related Documents section of the application.

Once you have applied online, please allow 7-10 business days for review.
