"Let's Talk Carmel"
This website was recently launched by members of the Carmel City Council as a way to answer commonly asked questions about a variety of issues related to the City, its government and its mission to become the best place to live in America.
As a member of the public, you are encouraged to voice your opinions and become actively involved in the City of Carmel’s legislative process. The City Council meetings are open to the public and agendas are available for your review prior to the meeting. The Council meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month and commence at 6:00 p.m.
The public may address the Council regarding an agenda item or general concern by completing a speaker identification card (Blue Card) and presenting to the Clerk Treasurer or Deputy prior to the start of the meeting. These cards are available on the table located outside the Council Chambers. You will be called to the podium by the Council President. Remember to state your name for the record.
The public may also speak during Public Hearings, specifically to items that appear on the agenda under this section. You do not have to complete a Blue Card in order to speak during the Public Hearing. The Council President will open the Public Hearing and explain how the public may be involved. Remarks have 3 minute time limit (for both blue card and public hearings) and should be kept to the point.
If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to voice an opinion, you may email one of the Council Members.
*Note: You may speak to an agenda item from the Public Hearing section during the Blue Card section of the meeting, but you must complete the Blue Card prior to the start of the meeting to do so.
