Chaka Coleman has been a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations since 2021. She is a graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy, which prepares community leaders to assume active roles in addressing critical issues facing Hamilton County, and in 2022 she was appointed to serve the Indianapolis legal community as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Indianapolis Bar Association.
Chaka graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and currently works at Paganelli Law Group in Carmel. She also attended Indiana Wesleyan University where she received a B.S. in Business Management. She previously worked in municipal government for the City of Fishers and the Marion Superior Court.
Chaka serves on the IndyBar Racial Justice Commission and is a Fellow of both the Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunity and IU McKinney Program on Law and State Government. She is also a member of Carmel Rotary and previously served as their Gearbox Newsletter Editor.
Chaka is the mother of five beautiful children and resides in Carmel, where she and her family enjoy being members of the Monon Community Center, hanging out at splashpads, and riding their bicycles.
