Carmel Police Chief  Ex-officio

Chief James Barlow has been a member of the Carmel Police Department for 35 years. He received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Chief Barlow has previously served as Assistant Chief, Commander of the Operations, Special Investigations, and Support Divisions and Commander of the SWAT team.

The Chief manages the operations and activities of the Carmel Police Department to provide the leadership and direction necessary to enable members of the Department to give the highest level of law enforcement services to the community.
