The Carmel Police Department Bicycle Patrol Unit consists of department personnel trained to conduct patrol responsibilities while utilizing a bicycle.

The implementation of bicycles provides an array of benefits and creates an alternative to the conventional form of police patrol, especially when deployed during city events and along greenways and multi-use paths. This allows our officers to effectively navigate areas which are not well suited for vehicular patrol.

The bicycle patrol unit also offers the ability for citizens to interact more readily with our officers, which promotes positive interactions with those we serve.
Along with traditional bicycles, the Tactical Bicycle Patrol Unit utilizes e-bikes. These bicycles allow our officers rapidly respond to emergency incidents with less fatigue, increasing their ability to handle the incident safely and effectively.
